Site Investigation

Making use of extensive contaminated land investigation experience, Dave & Rose Ltd works with a wide range of subcontractors to provide clients with a cost effective, hassle-free service. Investigations are designed within a risk-based framework and are undertaken by experienced field crews. This approach ensures that reporting is always site specific and designed to meet the investigation objectives. The Phase 1 site investigation is usually completed within one or two weeks of receiving a commission and includes:

  • Site walkover
  • Historical land use review, where information are avalable
  • Geological and hydrogeological site assessment
  • Regulatory liaison
  • Conceptual modelling
  • Reporting

The UK risk based approach involves reviewing the potential for a contaminant source to reach a receptor (such as water supply or a site user). Where a potential linkage exists then either engineered solutions are defined (remediation design) or further assessment may be required (additional phases). The costs and recommendations for Phase 2 site investigations are dependent upon the outcome of the Phase 1 site Investigation. We can provide:

  • Intrusive works: trial pitting, window sampling, rotary drilling, etc
  • Design and construction of groundwater & gas monitoring wells
  • Logging of ground conditions using BS Standards & recovery of soil samples
  • Groundwater and Ground gas monitoring and sampling
  • Chemical analysis at SPDC accredited laboratory in PH
  • Data interpretation and reporting
  • Greenhouse gas management
  • Environmental Impact assessment studies
  • Environmental Systems audit

The Phase 3 site investigation may involve Detailed Quantitative Risk Assessment which includes calculating site specific assessment criteria based on industry standard groundwater and human health risk assessment models such as CLEA, MT3D, RBCA, ConSim, P20-RTW, &BP RISC. Dave & Rose apply these models in line with current regulatory guidance.

Greenhouse Gas
Dave& Rose Ltd engage in consulting services to companies wishing to develop a Climate Change Strategy to reduce their carbon footprint by reducing their Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions. Our experts will help clients develop GHG emission reduction projects and prepare existing project for the carbon market. Dave & Rose Ltd will provide support with preparing project design documents for successful submission of emission reduction project to the Greenhouse gas registries under the UNFCCC’s Kyoto Protocol.

Our services in this regard include:

  • Recovery solutions to carbon credit monetization
  • Emission Reduction Strategy
  • Emission Inventory
  • Emission Credits

Waste to energy type projects:
Methane emissions sources include landfills, agricultural activities, and wastewater treatment plant have a great potential for emission reduction projects, Dave& Rose Ltd will work with client in developing an economic beneficial strategy. Projects could include the combustion of methane from landfills and waste incineration for electricity generation.

Risk Assessment:
Dave & Rose Ltd uses the latest guidance provided by various research organisations to apply a range of quantitative risk assessment techniques. Our main aim is to avoid costly remediation, or at least to minimise remediation costs and timescales as much as possible. Our in-house risk assessors use a range of specialist risk assessment tools to calculate contamination risks to:

  • Human health
  • Groundwater
  • Surface water
  • Property
  • Ecological receptors

Quantitative risk assessments are focused around the analysis results and conceptual site model (CSM) formulated during the site investigation. We use the latest guidance provided provided by UK Environment Agency and other research organisations. Environmental Monitoring
Dave & Rose Ltd is responsible for a range of long term and short term monitoring programmes on a variety of sites from old landfills to sites where Monitored Natural Attenuation processes are being evaluated. We have a range of modern monitoring equipment that enables us to monitor ground gases in accordance with the latest CIRIA guidance. We can undertake:

  • Installation of monitoring wells and monitoring infrastructure;
  • Gas monitoring for methane, carbon dioxide, oxygen, etc;
  • Monitoring and sampling for volatile organic compounds;
  • Groundwater and surface water level monitoring and sampling;
  • Indoor air quality monitoring;
  • Scheduling and interpretation of laboratory analysis.

All schemes are carried out according to current best practice and are supported by reports that are suitable for regulatory scrutiny.
